Conference Speakerphones with Suspended Cavity Technology

Nowadays, with the rapid development and iteration of intelligent technology, intelligent devices are becoming more and more crucial. Voice interaction is vital in establishing remote information transmission and device endpoint control. People have higher expectations of performance on voice interaction devices. And the automatic speech recognition and processing of intelligent audio products also rely on a tremendous acoustic system.

Acoustic System

An excellent acoustic system should be that the speakers and microphone have no energy interference, providing an environment without noises caused by vibration and the noises for automatic speech recognition. On that account, having high-quality acoustic shock absorption determines the restoration of high-quality sound sources and achieves better voice interaction when speaking more. The speaker is usually set in a closed box based on an excellent audio device with excellent audio quality. Due to the speaker's fastening to the box body, tremendous vibration energy will be released at high power, causing the box to resonate with the surrounding devices and cause noises to be generated. This condition will impact the sound source itself. Distortion involves sound quality interaction between the speaker and the microphone simultaneously.

Present Shock Absorption Method

At present, the existing shock absorption method for intelligent audio devices is to attach the speaker to the box body using silica gel and foam with good resilience to create shock-absorbing buffers. However, after testing, the effect of these shock absorption methods is still not ideal. Since the speaker and the soft shock-absorbing material are sandwiched on the box body, by doing so, the shock-absorbing material becomes tight and turns into a hard contact body. This means it weakens the shock-absorbing buffer body and affects the shock absorption. Especially at high power, the vibration energy from the speaker will transmit to the surrounding of the box through the hard contact body.

What is Suspended Cavity Technology?

Suspended Cavity Technology is a brand new invention from EMEET and is currently in the process of patent application. The technology provides an acoustic shock absorption mechanism for an intelligent voice interaction device. So that it essentially absorbs and slows down vibration and prevents most of the vibration energy from being transmitted to the surrounding of the box. Also, including the audio pick of the microphone, while the speaker and the microphone achieve better voice interaction and improved sound quality under the same device.

Furthermore, this technology takes the speaker unit and the shock absorbing mechanism as independent components through various connections of the shock absorbing buffer body on the separated parts. The speaker is independent of the box body, and contact between the speaker unit and the box body is isolated. Therefore, it avoids the vibration energy of the speaker transmitting to the natural frequency of the box body and away from the surrounding devices. The kinetic energy is absorbed by shock absorption, avoids additional noises, and gives the devices better voice interaction and audio quality.

1.Non-Shock Absorption Design

The non-shock absorption design means that there is no material separating the speaker and the box body apart. It uses screws to attach the speaker to the box body tightly. Therefore, when turning the speaker to a high volume, the high frequency will conduct a vibration in the speaker, passing it to the box body. In this case, not only will the entire speaker have a vibration, but it will also affect the sound quality.

2.Rubber Pad Shock Absorption Design

The rubber pad sock absorption design is the most commonly used and is used on most of the speakerphone products on the market. The method is to add a rubber pad between the speaker and the box body, and it can effectively reduce the vibration from the speaker transmitted to the box body. Because the rubber pad is a soft-shock-absorbing material, when the pulse travels through the rubber pad, it can conduct a more minor vibration that cancels out the vibration from the speaker. However, when attaching the speaker to the box body with the screws, the rubber pad is sandwiched between the speaker and the box body. This means the rubber pad will become hard-shock-absorbing material and less effective at cancelling the vibrations.

3.Suspended Cavity Design

The difference between the suspended cavity design and the rubber pad shock absorption is an additional elastic rubber string between the speaker and the rubber pad. Adding the extra elastic rubber string creates a further distance between the speaker and the box body, which makes the vibration energy have a longer distance to travel. So reaching the box body would have decelerated the vibration energy. Also, the elastic string would conduct a more minor vibration that cancels out the vibration from the speaker.

Testing results

Test with Shock-Absorption Design

It is shown from the testing results that the speaker with no Shock-Absorption design has a significant effect on the sound quality, and the frequency is constantly jumping up and down. On the other hand, the test result of the speaker with a Shock-Absorption design shows a stable output frequency, and it is not affected by the vibration from the speaker.

As far as we know, this suspended cavity design is newly designed by EMEET, and currently, only the EMEET Meeting Capsule has this design for its speakers. Also, you may not know that suspended cavity design is not only suitable for speakers, but it is also suitable for microphones. EMEET has a lot of Bluetooth speakerphones and USB speakerphones that have microphones with suspended cavity designs, such as the EMEET OfficeCore M2 Max, EMEET OfficeCore M3 and more.

Conclusion

To sum up, people have higher expectations of the quality of a speakerphone when conducting conference calls. The suspended cavity technology provides an acoustic shock absorption mechanism of an intelligent voice interaction device that can achieve better audio quality and feedback. The acoustic shock absorption mechanism is based on the principle that the speaker is independently opened in the box and other devices. This essentially prevents the speaker's enormous vibration energy at high power or high sensitivity from being transmitted to the surrounding mechanism and produces poor sound quality.
